Meeka Metals has hit primary mineralisation at the Fencline target, which the company believes is another step in understanding the major gold system it believes it has on its hands.

Results at the highly prospective Fencline target, only 10km to the northeast of Anomaly A, has hit primary gold in a single hole, returning 4m at 2.97g/t gold.

Meanwhile, drilling Anomaly A has continued to return the goods with hits such as 16m at 1.50g/t from 36m and 8m at 2.79g/t gold from 124m.

Meeka (ASX:MEK) says based on the success of exploration to date, drilling at Circle Valley will continue in the second half of 2023 following crop harvesting.

Drilling points to hydrothermal flow over many kilometres

“Circle Valley is located in a zone of major tectonic activity on the margin of the Yilgarn Craton and bounded to the south by an interpreted granite intrusion, important features for a possible large Proterozoic gold system,” MEK managing director Tim Davidson says.

“The complex structural sequence, shearing and faulting, provides the conduits for large-scale hydrothermal fluid flow and our drilling confirms this fluid flow carried high-grade gold.

“Coupled with the information from our 2022 diamond drilling we now understand important targeting features, the fluid pathways, which we will drill during our next phase of work at Circle Valley.”

No previous systemic gold exploration

The project is in a zone of major tectonic activity on the margin of the Yilgarn Craton and bounded to the south by an interpreted granite intrusion, important features for a possible large Proterozoic gold system.

Limited historical reconnaissance drilling had identified primary gold mineralisation in four separate locations, Anomaly A, B, C and Fenceline but despite early positive indications, no systematic gold exploration was undertaken prior to Meeka’s work.

Outside Anomaly A and Fenceline, total historical drilling amounts to only 26 shallow aircore holes

What’s next?

Rare earths assays from infill drilling at the site are due in the coming weeks and gold drilling in the Murchison is commencing later this month.
