Exploration at NickelX’s Dalwallinu project in WA up a notch with the start of detailed sampling over four high priority targets refined by a recent magnetic survey.

The infill auger drilling soil sampling program will be carried out at 50m by 50m spacing to extend the four targets at 86km2 project, which has some of the highest PGE recordings in the Western Yilgarn.

NickelX (ASX:NKL) expects the soil sampling to be completed within the week with assays expected before the end of the March quarter.

This will be followed up by ground electromagnetic surveys to test for potential massive nickel-copper-PGE sulphides.

Results from both programs will be targeted with a maiden drilling program once appropriate permitting is in place.

“The detailed close spaced infill auger drilling soil sampling program combined with historical and current soil samples, points to some very well-defined exploration targets, seeking Julimar Style Nickel-Copper-PGE mineralisation,” managing director Matt Gauci said.

“Magnetic data also indicates the Barra Barra Greenstone Belt intrusive – which is being targeted for Ni-CuPGE mineralisation – represents a folded tabular body, either originally a dyke or a sill.

“The exploration team are very excited by the prospectivity the four high priority targets represent and in conjunction with the current infill soil sampling program are progressing EM surveys and drilling permits to take the project forward.”

Julimar lookalike?

NickelX’s interest in Dalwallinu stems from the fact that the project could be a lookalike of Chalice Mining’s world-class Julimar nickel-copper-PGE discovery, which is also located within the emerging West Yilgarn.

Should the company be able to prove that the project is indeed a Julimar lookalike, it could be the driver of significant upside.
