Carawine has identified a veritable bevy of targets at its five recently granted exploration licences in WA’s Tropicana and Yamarna Provinces.

After completing a review of historical exploration and regional geophysical datasets CWX has identified rich new targets, some of which include intriguing gold intersections that were not followed up.

It follows on recent drilling at the Hercules prospect which intersected gold in a largely untested major shear zone – now also the target for follow-up drilling.

Carawine Resources (ASX:CWX) is planning follow-up drill programs at the Pleiades, Python and Tallows North tenements along with ground geophysical surveys at Python, Westwood and Chicago.

Going full Tropicana

“In the fifteen months since establishing the Tropicana North Project we have been successful in discovering high-grade gold mineralisation at Hercules, significant drill hole gold anomalies at Big Freeze and Beanie, and identifying twelve new target regions on just one tenement within the project,” managing director David Boyd said.

“The identification of multiple exploration targets within the five newly granted tenements adds significantly to this growing pipeline of quality targets at Tropicana North, ranging from conceptual and early-stage to advanced targets with significant drill hole gold intervals.

“In the coming months we will design, plan and prioritise programs to test these new targets, which is likely to start with drilling at Pleiades and Python. We look forward to sharing the results of this work as it progresses, and continuing our strong record of discovery in the region.”

Prime Fraser

Over at its Fraser Range joint venture with IGO Limited (ASX:IGO), drilling at the Red Bull tenement has intersected a wide zone of graphitic gneiss, including massive graphite in places.

This is determined to be the source of the target electromagnetic conductor and IGO will follow-up with downhole EM survey and detailed structural interpretation.

Boyd noted that IGO will now update its targeting model for Red Bull with these results for use in future exploration.

“In the meantime, exploration on the Fraser Range Joint Venture tenements will continue with AC drilling programs designed to test nickel-copper targets at Bindii and Big Bullocks expected to commence within the next two to three months,” he added.

Tropicana North is a target-rich environment

Carawine’s target generation efforts returned a large number of targets despite excluding the Naries and Spackman tenements that were granted more recently.

At Pleiades, located 20km east of the Tropicana gold mine, the company identified an extensive gold anomaly that trends east-northeast over more than 7km that is defined by three historical aircore drill holes.

The anomaly is sub-parallel to major structures and includes a significant interval of 1m grading 0.59 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 10m.

It is also noticeably larger than gold anomalies associated with the Hercules or Atlantis/Big Freeze prospects along the Hercules Shear zone on the Neale tenement

The company has identified two gold targets and one magmatic nickel-copper target at Python for follow-up drilling.

These include a 2.5km by 1.5km area of gold anomalism with values ranging from 10 parts per billion to 612ppb gold at Python Area 1. Nice.

Then there’s a single gold anomalous end-of-hole assay result of 1m at 0.5g/t gold from 59m from a historical AC hole at Python Area 2, also nice. And there’s an additional ultramafic ortho-cumulate intrusive body identified from three AC holes drilled by AngloGold Ashanti Australia at Python Area 3.

The Python

Carawine noted that the Python Area 1 anomaly includes two significant intervals of 4m at 0.61g/t gold from 42m and 1m at 0.36g/t gold from 32m while the Python Area 3 holes returned between 0.17% nickel to 0.81% nickel, 30 parts per million to 572ppm copper, and 1% to 34.3% magnesium oxide – consistent with source rocks for Nova-style mineralisation.

Meanwhile, the review identified two target areas at the Blue Bell South tenement located on the southern end of the Yamarna greenstone belt, about 90km south of the Gruyere gold mine.

Tallows North is a large 5km by 0.5km to 3km gold-in-soil anomaly that includes an associated redox-boundary gold anomaly defined in drilling.

Liberty comprises the southern strike extension of a fault-bounded section of mafic volcanic, sediment and felsic volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks of the Yamarna Terrane that extends from the historical Bluebell gold prospects.

Over at Westwood – the northernmost of the company’s Tropicana North tenements – the company has identified a prominent magnetic high associated with a broad gravity ridge in regional-scale government geophysical survey data.

This represents a conceptual target with potential for an intrusion-related mineral system.

Last, but not least, the review also identified a northwest trending gravity ridge runs through the southern part of the Chicago tenement which includes a prominent magnetic high that provides a conceptual target with potential for a intrusion-related mineral system target.

Future activity

Carawine expects first drilling over the new targets at Tropicana North to begin in June this year after regional AC programs at the Neale tenement.

It is also awaiting further assay results from ongoing diamond drilling at the Hercules prospect within the next seven days as well as results from reverse circulation drilling at the Big Freeze and Beanie prospects in mid to late April.
