Bubalus gains heritage clearance for Malinda East lithium drilling

  • Bubalus Resources completes heritage clearance survey at Yinnietharra lithium project
  • Survey clears 40 hectare area along strike from Delta’s Malinda lithium project for drilling and track clearance
  • Evaluation underway to determine best path to advance the drill-ready Malinda East target

Special Report: Bubalus Resources is clear to start maiden drilling at its Yinnietharra lithium project in WA’s Gascoyne region after completing the key heritage clearance survey.

The ethnographic and archaeological work area clearance survey was conducted in partnership with the Burringurah Wajarri Custodians and Three Sisters Heritage Surveys.

It cleared a 40 hectare area for the construction of access tracks and to carry out proposed exploration at the Malinda East target, which sits 2km along strike from Delta Lithium’s (ASX:DLI) Malinda lithium deposit that has a resource of 21.1Mt at 1% Li2O.

Bubalus Resources’ (ASX:BUS) had defined Malinda East through the use of systematic soil sampling which defined a clear area of anomalous lithium and caesium at surface.

Adding interest, spodumene-bearing pegmatites identified at Malinda by DLI strike in an east-west orientation towards the Yinnietharra project boundary.

While no drilling has been carried out by the company at Yinnietharra, soil sampling to identify the size and scale of potential pegmatites confirmed that the project’s nearology to Malinda isn’t all that’s going for it.

This was carried out at a 200m by 200m spacing across most of the project area with the spacing narrowing down to 100m by 100m at Malinda East.

Anomalism at Malinda East measures 800m north-south and 450m east-west. It is defined by lithium-in-soil values above 40ppm and caesium-in-soils above 8ppm.

Bedrock lithologies in this area are interpreted to belong to the Leake Springs Metamorphic unit, the host rock for the mineralised pegmatites at Malinda.

The company is evaluating the optimum path to advance the drill-ready prospect.
