Special Report: Drill assays from Brightstar’s Menzies Gold Project return shallow, high grade gold up to 29.1g/t as a massive >30,000m drilling campaign continues.
The giant drill campaign is being funded by a $6.5m cash injection from small-scale gold production via its Selkirk JV with BML Ventures and the recent placement to strategic investors including St Barbara Ltd (ASX: SBM) and institutions such as Collins Street Asset Management and Lion Selection Group (ASX: LSX) which raised $12m.
Brightstar Resources’ (ASX:BTR) >30,000m drilling is targeting resource growth and higher confidence category ounces at its 1.45Moz gold portfolio in WA ahead of project feasibility work.
Drilling is also going on at the Linden Gold Alliance assets which BTR is acquiring, including the operating Second Fortune mine and the 293,000oz Jasper Hills project.
Remaining assays received from RC drilling have been completed at the Link Zone at Menzies.
Results have produced several shallow high-grade intercepts, confirming mineralisation within targeted $3,000/oz gold optimised pit shells at shallow depths across the Westralian Menzies, Merriyulah and Golden Dicks deposits.
Intercepts include:
Geotechnical and metallurgical diamond drill program at Link Zone is now in progress.
The RC drill rig has already moved and drilled 52 holes at the Lady Shenton system where it targeted areas for infilling and resource confidence growth, with assays pending.
RC drill rig has also commenced drilling at Second Fortune gold mine to prepare pre-collars for deep diamond drilling, which will occur after the diamond drill rig completes the work at Link Zone.
“Once all assays are received for the program, this new data can be incorporated into updates to the geological interpretation and MRE,” BTR MD Alex Rovira says.
“The shallow high-grade results inside the optimised pit shells highlight the near-surface potential of the deposits.
“With all assays received for the program, this new data can now be incorporated into updates to the geological interpretation and MRE.
“With the RC drill rig relocated to Second Fortune, the focus at Menzies can now switch to the technical studies required to assess and advance a potential small-scale mining campaign at Link Zone, with JT Metallurgical Services and Operational Geotechs engaged based upon their previous work at the Selkirk Mining JV.
These studies will include new geotechnical and metallurgical data, provided by the diamond drilling scheduled to begin in the coming days, with this information to feed into re-optimised pit shells.”
