Cork Tree Well tops expectations for Brightstar, latest nickel assays eagerly anticipated.

Brightstar Resources has hit gold grades up to 16.84 g/t in recent drilling at Cork Tree Well in Western Australia’s Laverton gold belt, where intersections were returned along strike to the north of historical mining.

Results for the drilling program, which is the first exploration program conducted on the area since 2012, have been received for 47 holes.

Drilling has been completed for 12,000m to date in a program designed to infill and extent the current JORC resource of 237,000oz at 1.9 g/t gold.

Results include:

  • 16m at 3.26g/t gold from 112m,
  • 12m at 4.25g/t from 131m,
  • 7m at 3.03g/t from 58m,
  • 6m at 2.60g/t from 68m,
  • 7m at 2.28g/t from 69m,
  • 2m at 6.23g/t from 137m, and
  • 2m at 16.84g/t from 96m.

Results ‘exceed expectations’

Brightstar (ASX:BTR) managing director William Hobba said results continue to correlate very well with the company’s geological model and exceed expectations for grade profile within the Cork Tree Well deposit.

“This latest batch of assays for an additional 21 holes mean we have now received 47 holes in total from the program of 89 holes completed at Cork Tree Well,” he said.

“We eagerly await the balance of the gold assays as well as the multi-element nickel assays in line with our previous ASX announcement, including re-assays of the original intercepts. Results will be announced when analysed and QAQC processes completed.”

Gold assays received to date continue to provide confidence that the Gold Tree Well resource is robust and will convert to higher confidence JORC Resource categories and ultimately a JORC Reserve once declared.

Next on the agenda

As there are still several areas at Cork Tree Well not yet closed out by this drill program, further drilling is likely to continue to grow the existing resource.

Locations for this next program will be determined by the geological model in the context of the assays received to date and upon receiving outstanding assays.

Brightstar will target mineralisation at depth and along strike with a view to extending the boundaries of the currently known mineralisation in 2022.
