Gold and base metal explorer BPM Minerals has eyed two conductive zones after completing an IP survey at its IZS prospect, part of its Santy Gold project east of Geraldton in WA.

Gold and polymetallic mineralisation identified at IZ5 during previous drilling intersected 1m at 0.89g/t gold, 90.3ppm silver, 2.03% copper and 0.19% lead+zinc from a downhole depth of 66m.

This intriguing intercept is spatially associated with the conductive zones identified, yet the zones themselves are potentially untested by drilling.

At this stage it is not known if the mineralisation is associated with the conductor or if one of the conductors lies deeper than the current drilling window of more than 80m, so BPM said it would get going with an electromagnetic survey to further analyse the hits so it can plan its own maiden drilling campaign.

The IZ5 prospect is mostly under alluvial cover and historically, multiple exploration programs have focused around the areas of limited outcrop with historical rock chipping returning highly encouraging assay values >100g/t gold in addition to other highly anomalous base metals.

BPM said the drilling results were significant due to the polymetallic composition of the mineralised zones and believes that the mineralisation is VHMS related.

“BPM’s strategy at the prospect is to explore under the surrounding cover by utilising multi-element regolith drilling and geophysical techniques to highlight prospective areas for deeper drill testing,” BPM stated.

“The Tallering Greenstone Belt contains known VHMS mineral occurrences to the east at the Snake Well Gold and Base Metal Project (Adaman).”

“The multi-deposit, polymetallic Golden Grove VHMS camp is also a prominent operation in the region.”

A ground-based Electro-Magnetic (EM) survey is scheduled to commence over the coming 1-2 months once a contractor is secured to define the conductive zones in 3D which can then be targeted and tested by drilling later in the year.
