Blue Star and its partners have been granted the final permit to drill the Sammons 315310C helium exploration well at the Serenity prospect in Las Animas County, Colorado.

The well is the first of four wells proposed to be drilled in the Sammons Ranch Oil and Gas Development Plan that was approved by the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission earlier this year.

Blue Star Helium (ASX:BNL), which has a 50% non-operated interest in the Area of Mutual Interest that includes the Serenity prospect, noted that operator Vecta’s planning for the well is advanced with drilling expected to begin as soon as practicable this quarter.

Busy times ahead

The approval comes as the company continues to progress its exploratory water well program that has already returned valuable data.

At the Galactica/Pegasus prospects – the Company recently advised that their State 9, 16, 35 and 36 wells have passed completeness. The applications will now pass into the technical review and hearing process.

Blue Star will soon submit applications for the first two Voyager appraisal and development wells with applications for another three to be made shortly thereafter. Following up on the 134 foot (41m) helium bearing (8,8%) gas column interpreted in the BBB#1 water well.

Its first well – Enterprise 16#1 – had interpreted a 78 foot (23.8m) structural gas column t Enterprise and is currently awaiting a workover rig for completion and testing.
