Belararox narrows down drill targets at TMT copper project

  • BRX begins MT/IP survey at TMT project in Argentina to narrow down drill targets
  • These surveys have been used successfully at nearby 1.51Bt Valeriano project
  • Company aiming to commence drilling later this quarter

Special Report: Belararox has begun geophysical surveys at the Toro South target of its Toro-Malambo-Tambo (TMT) copper project in Argentina.

The company has already successfully identified numerous promising targets within the project which is in an unexplored area between the prolifically mineralised El Indio and Maricunga Metallogenic Belts.

First cab off the rank is the Toro South target, with the combined magnetotellurics (MT) and induced polarisation (IP) geophysical survey expected to image zones of low resistivity from surface to depths of over 2000m.

Notably, these types of surveys have been successfully used in copper porphyry projects globally for refined drill hole targeting, such as ATEX Resources’ 1.51Bt Valeriano project which sits around 20 km from Toro South.

Surface rock sampling at Toro South target has already returned assay results of up to 1.41% copper, 1.28ppm gold, 421ppm silver, 8.13% zinc, and >20.0% lead

Plus, 3D interpretation of surface assay results have confirmed the presence of a significant copper porphyry target at depth, and anomalous copper, gold, and silver values from the surface also highlight the potential for an epithermal system developed above this porphyry target.

Belararox (ASX:BRX) exploration manager Chris Blaser said geophysical data collection from the surveys has begun and will be “instrumental to further refine our targets for follow-up drilling in Q4 CY25.”

Drilling planned later this month

The company has also reported today that the age dating of intrusive rocks at Toro and Tambo South have confirmed magmatic ages between ~25 Ma and ~19 Ma – consistent with major copper porphyry systems in the Vicuña Belt like Josemaria and Filo del Sol.

These age dating results further enhance the prospectivity of Toro and Tambo South to host fertile intrusions for copper porphyry mineralisation.

Drill contract negotiations are now nearing completion with a global leader and mobilisation to site is planned for late November.

“The MT/IP survey now underway at Toro South is a key step in unlocking the project’s full potential,” MD Arvind Misra said.

“These advanced surveys will help us pinpoint high-priority drill targets within what we believe is a large and fertile mineralised system.

“Combined with recent age-dating results confirming the same magmatic window as major porphyry copper deposits in the Vicuña Belt – such as Josemaria and Filo del Sol – we’re building a strong geological foundation ahead of drilling later this year.

“With drill contracts nearing completion and mobilisation planned for late November, Belararox is well positioned to deliver meaningful exploration progress in Argentina’s most exciting copper province.”
