Belararox hits target depth at TMT copper project

  • Belararox reaches target depth of 1300m at Tambo South
  • The drill hole reached the top of the porphyry and validated the company’s geological model
  • Initial observations confirm copper mineralisation but further testing is required at depth

Special report: Belararox capped off its field season in Argentina with several milestones including reaching the target depth of 1300m at the Toro-Malambo-Tambo (TMT) project and hitting the top of the porphyry, validating its approach using various geological models.

Reaching the top of the copper porphyry target was predicted using the 3D Cohen porphyry footprint model.

So far, logging of the drill core indicates multiple intrusions with varying extents of copper mineralisation based on the presence of covellite, chalcocite and chalcopyrite.

Preliminary interpretation of geological logs and visual estimates suggests that the copper porphyry target at Tambo South has not been fully tested and may require deeper drilling.

Geochemical and spectrometry data, expected by the end of May, will contribute to updated 3D models, offering a more accurate assessment of the porphyry target location.

Share price surge

These milestones follow the identification of hundreds of metres of continuous copper sulphides in the second hole at Tambo South, which sent BRX’s shares flying 150% higher in late March.

The TMT project in Argentina occupies an unexplored area between the prolific El Indio and Maricunga metallogenic belts, with multiple promising targets already identified throughout the asset area.

Belararox (ASX:BRX) is assessing their potential to host significant copper, gold and other mineral deposits.

This work has uncovered evidence that a porphyry system is present following the confirmation of porphyry-style alteration and mineralisation at three of the 12 targets.

Further testing

BRX managing director Arvind Misra said reaching the target depth of 1,300 metres and intersecting multiple copper-bearing intrusions at Tambo South was a major milestone.

“While initial observations confirm copper mineralisation, the system requires further testing at depth,” he said.

“With all samples now submitted for analysis and detailed core logging underway, we look forward to announcing the results and are well-positioned to refine our geological models.

“The upcoming results, with improved site access and a strong platform established this season, provide a solid foundation to further evaluate the copper porphyry potential in the next field campaign.”

What’s next?

Initial results from the first holes at Tambo South and Malambo are being received and will be analysed in the coming weeks.

All assay results from the drilling season are expected by the end of May 2025.

Activities in May and June will focus on interpreting geological, geochemical and magnetic data and planning for the next field season.

Field operations are anticipated to resume in November 2025.
