Auroch Minerals (ASX:AOU) is poised to recommence a soil and surface rock chip sampling program at its Arden copper-zinc project in South Australia.

Notably, the company has marked the unsampled eastern region of the project, which is adjacent to Taruga Minerals’ (ASX:TAR) high-grade copper discovery at the Wyacca prospect, as a priority target.

The program will cover prospective copper trends across the two tenements that comprise the Arden project and includes regional trends identified by Taruga.

Initial rock chip sampling carried out in October 2020 by the company near the historical artisanal Mt Arden copper mine, south of the northwestern copper trend, returned hits such as 20.4 per cent copper, 15.25 per cent copper and 8.55 per cent copper.

Zinc drilling

Auroch has also lodged a work permit application for a three- to five-hole reverse circulation drilling program targeting the Ragless Range zinc target. Previous drilling here returned hits including 3.65m at 15.47 per cent zinc from 62.15m within a broader 12.8m interval at 4.96 per cent zinc from 53m.

“We are pleased to get back on the ground in South Australia and recommence our work programs at the Arden Project. The copper discovery at Wyacca by Taruga Minerals was very exciting and bodes well for the excellent potential for significant copper mineralisation that the Arden Project offers,” managing director Aidan Platel said.

“The sampling program will provide a systematic coverage of the project area in order to define any potential trends for follow-up exploration and possibly drilling, building on the high-grade copper results we have already seen from rock-chip samples at Arden.

“We are also eager to finally drill our planned RC program at the Ragless Range zinc prospect.

“We know from our previous drilling that there is high-grade zinc mineralisation in the area, and we have potential for scale with a compelling anomaly with over 2km of strike, so we look forward to the program and the results it will bring.”
