• Arizona Lithium completes collection of 100t bulk sample from three holes at Big Sandy
  • Bulk sample will be used to help validate exploration target and expand resources
  • Current resource of 320,800t LCE is based on just 4% of the project that has been drilled to date

Special Report: Arizona Lithium has completed the collection of a 100t bulk sample as part of its work to validate an exploration target and expand resources at its Big Sandy lithium project in Arizona.

The bulk sample of lithium material was collected from three drill holes, with the company noting that water was not encountered in the holes and that the site has now been fully rehabilitated.

It is part of Arizona Lithium’s (ASX:AZL) recently approved drill program at Big Sandy, which includes 131 exploration holes.

Bulk sampling will enable process testing to begin at the company’s Lithium Research Centre in Tempe, Arizona.

“As we seek to validate the existing exploration target and expand the existing resource, we are excited to have collected a bulk sample at Big Sandy,” managing director Paul Lloyd said.

“Big Sandy can become a world class resource with the project holding 320,800 tonnes of LCE, and with only 4% of the project drilled to date.”

Big Sandy project

Big Sandy is a very shallow, flat lying mineralised sedimentary lithium resource that sits covers ~25km2 on interstate I93 between Phoenix and Las Vegas.

It has access to excellent available infrastructure and has the potential to be developed with a very low environmental footprint.

The project already has a resource of 32.5Mt grading 1850ppm lithium for 320,800t lithium carbonate equivalent along with an exploration target of 271.1Mt-483.2Mt with a grade range of 1000 parts per million (ppm) to over 2000ppm lithium that could deliver further growth.

Previously completed ore test work had already successfully produced a 99.8% purity lithium carbonate, which easily meets the specifications of major international battery manufacturers.
