• Argent Minerals drilling extends VMS mineralisation at Kempfield NW Zone
  • Drilling intersects thick zones of silver-gold-copper-lead-zinc mineralisation
  • Find indicates potential for major VMS cluster system at Kempfield

Special Report: Argent Minerals has strongly reinforced the upside at its Kempfield project in NSW after drilling extended volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralisation at the Kempfield NW Zone.

Reverse circulation drilling completed over the zone intersected silver-gold-copper-lead-zinc mineralisation over a strike of ~1.1km. Notable hits from this drilling are:

  • 34m grading 13.6g/t silver and 0.91% copper+lead+zinc from 22m including 13m at 27.02g/t silver and 1.37% copper+lead+zinc from 43m and 18m at 22.3g/t silver and 0.6% copper+lead+zinc from 62m (AKRC287)
  • 23m at 12.6g/t silver and 0.43% copper+lead+zinc from 3m (AKRC255); and
  • 11m at 23.82g/t silver and 0.38% copper+lead+zinc from 4m including 5m at 42.52g/t silver and 0.85% copper+lead+zinc from 6m (AKRC261).

These results show the potential to significantly grow resources at Argent Minerals’ (ASX:ARD) Kempfield deposit, given that Kempfield NW/NE is a major mineralised extension of said deposit.

It was first discovered in March 2024 through surface sampling along strike from the Lode 300 mineralised block, which has a resource of 11.8Mt at 54.62g/t silver equivalent, or 20.8Moz contained AgEq.

Kempfield has a broader resource of 63.7Mt at 69.75g/t AgEq, making it Australia’s second largest undeveloped silver deposit.

The successful 22 hole drill program follows the company reporting last week that first rock chips from the Wood Gully Gossan prospect had returned assays of up to 3.8g/t gold, 112g/t silver, 1.76% copper, 31.1ppm indium, 1.68% lead and 0.72% zinc.

VMS deposits are mostly associated with base metals but hold the potential to produce economic levels of precious metals on top. They tend to have strong grades and a large spread of commodities, which makes them a logical target for smaller-scale operators aiming to enter production.

Major VMS cluster

“We are extremely pleased with the recent VMS discoveries east and southeast, as well as northeast of the main Kempfield polymetallic deposit,” managing director Pedro Kastellorizos said.

“The delineation of silver and base metal mineralisation over the Kempfield NW Zone demonstrates a strong continuation of mineralised extensions along strike from Lode 300 mineralised block.

“These assay results, from limited drilling completed by Argent Minerals, reinforce the significant upside potential of the Kempfield project as we expand the mineralised footprint well beyond the current Kempfield Deposit.

“The discoveries have potential for a major VMS cluster system with the team planning to test additional regional targets.”
