Anova Metals has begun an Airborne Electromagnetic (AEM) survey at its Golden Dragon and Fields Find base metals projects in Western Australia.

The company is looking for conductors below the ground, which may be caused by base metal bearing massive sulphides, with around 1300-line kms of data to be flown with additional infill over conductors of interest.

Anova Metals (ASX:AWV) believes the Projects are prospective for significant base metal deposits considering the endowment in the wider belt which includes the world class Golden Grove VMS (Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide) copper-zinc-gold-silver deposit 3km to the east of the tenement boundary and the Deflector gold-copper deposit around 50km to the west.

In addition, Capricorn Metals’ (ASX:CMM) Mt Gibson Gold Project is around 60km to the south in the same belt and is believed to have originally been a Au-Cu-Zn rich VMS deposit.

Historic polymetallic opportunity at Fields Find

The polymetallic opportunity is specifically evident at Fields Find, where approximately 270 tonnes of copper was produced from the historic Warriedar copper shafts.

Encouraging coincident copper-gold intercepts were returned at several prospects along the ‘Warriedar Corridor’, including the Falcon prospect which intersected 1m at 1.27% copper and 6.3 g/t gold from 98m.

First modern exploration at the projects

The AEM survey represents the first application of modern exploration to the Projects, specifically designed to target copper and VMS deposits, in the last 20 years.

In addition to the survey commencing this week, an AEM survey was flown over the main gold-bearing shear zone at the Golden Dragon Project during 2014 and while already in the public domain, Anova does not believe it has been fully analysed for base metal potential.

This data, along with the new AEM data being acquired, will be analysed and modelled.

Follow-up ground surveying, target ranking, and drilling is then scheduled, in parallel with the company’s planned aggressive 2023 drilling of free milling gold targets (40,000m+), which are already underway.
