Albion Resources’ 17 new targets outline scale of Yandal West gold opportunity

  • 17 new regional targets identified at Albion Resources’ Yandal West gold project
  • Results include seven high-priority drill targets with strong geological similarities to Collavilla
  • Phase 2 drilling is underway at Collavilla and other regional targets

Special Report: Albion Resources’ exploration has outlined the potential scale of gold mineralisation across the Ives Find Granite within its Yandal West gold project in WA’s Yandal Greenstone Belt.

This work has identified 17 new regional targets including seven high-priority drill targets which build on the success of first pass drilling at the Collavilla prospect which returned assays of up to 5m at 38.9g/t gold within a broader 11m at 20g/t intersection.

Albion Resources (ASX:ALB) used a combination of gravity surveying, chargeability mapping, geochemistry and structural interpretation to find the targets that sit within the 4km by 750m area Ives Find footprint.

Only a fraction of the Ives Find Granite has been tested by drilling to date.

Chief executive officer Peter Goh said the results showcased the scale of opportunity at Ives Find.

“By combining modern exploration techniques—such as gravity surveying, chargeability mapping and detailed structural analysis — we’re rapidly advancing a pipeline of targets,” he said.

“With drilling already underway, our aim is to replicate Collavilla-style success across multiple zones and test our chargeability targets to unlock the full potential of this highly prospective corridor.”

Drill targets

Seven of the drill targets are ranked as high priority due to their strong geological similarities to Collavilla and potential to host high-grade mineralisation.

These are:

  • Boiler Room – Northern extension of Collavilla where the main structure intersects a large gravity feature with prospectivity backed by coincident chargeability, resistivity anomalies and nearby intersections of 12m at 0.3g/t gold
  • Collavilla East – Chargeability target refined by gravity interpretation, with gold up to 23.3g/t in narrow east-dipping veins
  • Collavilla West – Chargeability target refined by gravity modelling, where the Collavilla structure meets a flexure in the greenstone contact; potential alteration zone indicated by a gravity low
  • Honeycomb – Surface gold-bearing veins and historical rock chips up to 6g/t gold coinciding with gravity features along the eastern extension of the vein
  • Ives North – Underexplored area with multiple mapped veins (up to 2.3g/t gold) intersecting gravity lineaments
  • Duck – Historical intercept of 4m at 7.5g/t, structure extends to intersect a gravity lineament; conceptual southern target where the structure meets the greenstone contact
  • Duckling – Historical intercept of 6m at 5.7g/t, structure trends south into greenstone contact and is a high-priority drill target

Watch: Albion’s Capricorn compact to boost Yandal gold hunt

Gravity is considered to be an important element in the exploration tool kit at Ives Find as it is effective for mapping high-density rocks. which are closely associated with high-grade gold shoots, within the low-density granite.

ALB is progressing phase 2 reverse circulation drilling targeting cleared high-priority areas including extensional drilling at Collavilla, plus testing regional targets at Boiler Room, Collavilla East, and Collavilla West.

At Barwidgee, the company will follow-up on a 4m intersection at 9g/t gold while at May Queen, it will test an initial target from historical drilling, to assist in additional target generation.

Other work includes progressing geophysical surveys, rock chip sample and soil sampling at Ives North, Duck, and Duckling to prepare for drilling.
