Weekly ASX small cap wrap: who’s headed in the right direction

Things are looking up for Mount Isa copper explorer Hammer Metals (ASX:HMX) which jumped 61 per cent this week after discovering four new copper and gold prospects.
Sampling revealed rock chips with very strong results of up to 36 per cent copper, 6.8 grams per tonne of gold and 23 grams per tonne of silver.
“Of 100 rock chip assays to date 56 returned copper values greater that 1 per cent copper,” the miner said.
It was welcome news for Hammer shareholders — who had watched the stock fall 70 per cent this year to 1.7c just before the discovery.
The shares rebounded to 2.9c this week — though still down from the 5.9c they hit earlier this year.
More results are due in two weeks and drilling will start later this quarter.
Food Revolution Group (ASX:FOD) gained 52 per cent this week after signing a deal to produce juice drinks for export to China.
FOD will work with wellness e-tailer Health More “to develop a range of exciting and innovative beverage products to distribute through e-commerce channels into the Chinese market”.
Health More already works with brands such as Blackmores and A2 selling dietary supplements, milk powders, cosmetics and food to Chinese consumers.
The shares closed the week at 8.5c compared to 5.6c a week earlier
It was a case of mixed fortunes for this week’s two mining floats Tempus Resources (ASX:TMR) and Sultan Resources (ASX:SLZ).
Base metals explorer Tempus spiked to a 38 per cent premium in its Wednesday debut, hitting a high of 27.5c.
The stock cooled to 24c at the close on Friday — a 20 per cent gain for the week.
Tempus listed on the back of a successful $5 million IPO.
Sultan finished the week down 7.5 per cent on its 20c issue price after ringing the ASX bell on Thursday.
Sultan, which raised $4.8 million, is building a portfolio of projects prospective for gold, copper, nickel and cobalt in Western Australia.
The stock closed Friday at 18.5c.
On Monday we’ll see the biggest ASX mining debut since Jupiter’s April float when mining entrepreneur Norm Seckold’s Nickel Mines (ASX:NIC) hits the boards.
The Indonesia-focused explorer raised $200 million selling shares at 35c apiece — and is expected to have a market cap of $486 million.
Jupiter Mines (ASX:JMS) raised $240 million in April and is now trading at 35.5c compared to its 40c issue price.
Banana furniture maker Papyrus (ASX:PPY) this week soared 233 per cent when a handful of trades pushed its shares to 2c.
There’s been no news (or customer receipts) recently from the Egypt-based business — which makes veneer out of banana trees.
Pancontinental Oil & Gas (ASX:PCL) put on 57 per cent this week to 1.1c.
Chief John Begg was touring the east coast this week, talking up the Namibia-focused company’s September drilling program.
Stockhead columnist Barry FitzGerald profiled the stock this week, reporting that Pancon was benefiting off the back of mining giant ExxonMobil’s arrival next door to where it plans to start drilling soon.
Kangaroo Resources (ASX:KRL) and Nkwe Platinum (ASX:NKP) went flying after receiving all-cash takeover offers.
Kangaroo hit its highest point in six years on Friday and closed up 37 per cent for the week at 12.5c.
Nkwe moved ahead 35 per cent to 9.3c.

Baraka Energy (ASX:BKP) finished down after an eventful week that saw a board spill.
“For the long suffering BKP shareholders, we have heard your call for change and for greater transparency in respect of BKP’s operations and the use of your invested funds,” the new board said on Tuesday.
A group of shareholders called an extraordinary meeting to try to dump the previous directors last week — and succeeded with more than 60 per cent of votes cast.
On Friday the company renewed its commitment to vanadium, saying it had begun reviewing “a number of advanced and early stage resource projects that it believes will complement and enhance Baraka’s position in the vanadium sector”.
The shares closed down 37.5 per cent at 0.5c for the week
