Top 10 at 11: Garnets – that’s what’s winning the morning. (Didn’t see that coming, did you?)

Good morning, and welcome to Stockhead’s Top 10 at shortly-before-11-ish, which is meant to highlight the best (and sometimes worst) performing ASX stocks in morning trade using live data, to provide a short, sharp update to help frame the trading day by showing the biggest movers in percentage terms that have made announcements.

The market opens at 10am (eastern time) and the data is taken at 10:15am, once every ASX stock has started trading – for better or worse – and then we do our best to make sense of who’s moving where and why it might be happening.

Anyway… here’s what’s been happening since the doors were opened this morning. The ASX burst out of the gates early doors… and promptly fell flat on its face. It’s down 0.85% as we “speak”.

All sectors are well in the red at time of writing, but in particular Information Technology, which has taken Wall Street’s plunge overnight to heart.

You can glean some more context on that and other things in this morning’s Market Highlights written by Eddy Sunarto.

Exploration minnow Pure Resources (ASX:PR1) has shot up today on the news it’s entered into a binding option agreement to acquire the Reedy Creek Project located 90 kms north of Halls Creek, Western Australia.

Meanwhile Athena Resources (ASX:AHN), a junior iron ore explorer and developer over in WA, is up a century of percentage gains this morning.

The company has had a boardroom shuffle. Per its ASX release this morning:
