Top 10 at 11: ASX dips again as small caps reach for the cheque book

Morning, and welcome to Stockhead’s Top 10 (at 11… ish), highlighting the movers and shakers on the ASX in early-doors trading.

With the market opening at 10am sharp eastern time, the data is taken at 10.15am in the east, once trading kicks off in earnest.

In brief, this is what the market has been up to this morning.

Gold stocks prop up ASX

The ASX is moving lower again today, down about 11 points or 0.13% in the first hour of trade.

Things are looking a little less rosy than yesterday, with eight of 11 sectors down and only materials putting in any kind of real showing (+1.05%).

Most of that strength is still coming from our gold stocks, which are enjoying a strong gold price. The ASX All Ord Gold is up 1.68% and the ASX 200 Resources has climbed 0.86%.

Info tech is at the bottom of the pack, down 0.82% with healthcare not far behind (-0.77%).
