The week ahead
This week will see the RBA’s first board meeting of the year. While there is little scope for them to ease interest rates further, markets always tune into their comments on the economy which will be released at 2.30pm Tuesday.
Economic data this week includes ANZ job advertisements today, building approvals on Wednesday, trade data on Thursday and retail sales data on Friday.

What got you talking last week
The biggest talking points of last week were the battle between instos and Redditors over GameStop (NYSE:GME) stock, and a small cap explorer which shared had the same ticker on the ASX – GME Resources (ASX:GME).
But among broader sectors, it was battery metals once again thanks to news out of several companies last week – particularly on Wednesday.
