The day ahead

Continuing the quiet week of local data, Australia will get quarterly data on construction work done for the three months to March. While a little out of date, the numbers may show the impact of early disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Looking abroad, the US Federal Reserve will release its Beige Book — a report released eight times a year that provides a summary of US economic activity.

Markets will also be watching for comments from Fed committee member James Bullard, who will give a speech on the state of the US economy during the pandemic.
