The day ahead

Today the Reserve Bank Board will be having its regular monthly meeting.

While it is not expected to cut interest rates again (and has little room to move anyway), its comments on the last couple of week’s developments will be fascinating to watch — specifically if it thinks its own actions and the government’s are working to limit the economic damage caused by COVID-19.

Also look out for Australia’s trade balance and the weekly ANZ-Roy Morgan consumer confidence.
