Rise and Shine: What you need to know before the ASX opens

The day ahead
There’s a key Australian economic update at 11:30am (Sydney time), with the release of all-important inflation figures for the September quarter.
The median forecast is for CPI to increase by 0.5 per cent, leaving the annual rate at 1.7 per cent — still comfortably below the RBA’s 2-3 per cent target.
And biotech investors will be gathering at the 2019 AusBiotech Invest & Partnering event, which kicks off today at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Later tonight, all eyes will be on the US Federal Reserve as the central bank makes its interest rates announcement.
Markets are priced for the Fed to cut rates again, and analysts will be watching for any changes to its future outlook.
The Fed decision will follow the latest reading for US Q3 GDP (also on Wednesday). Two other central banks (Canada on Wednesday, and Japan on Thursday) will also make policy announcements.
