Good morning everyone and welcome to Rise and Shine on Tuesday, June 7, 2025. Here’s what you should know before the ASX opens today…

Traders were glued to their screens for any movement in the US-China trade talks, which wrapped up six hours of negotiations in London with just enough optimism to keep things ticking.
Tesla surged 4.5% after Donald Trump dialled down the drama with Elon by promising to keep Starlink in the White House and wishing him “very well”.
Meanwhile, Apple slipped 1%, failing to impress at its big developer conference.
On the macro side, the Fed Reserve’s latest survey showed Americans are starting to chill out about inflation.
Expectations for price hikes eased across the board, giving traders more confidence the Fed won’t jack up rates again anytime soon.
“China’s not easy,” says Trump
Trade talks between the US and China are back on, this time unfolding in a very posh London manor, where negotiators burned through six hours of discussion without giving too much away.
They’ll be back at it again tonight.
Trump reckons it’s all going “very well”, but also called China “not easy”.
His top team – Treasury boss Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick – described the talks as “good” and “fruitful,” though neither spilled actual details.
The Chinese side, led by Vice Premier He Lifeng, didn’t say a word.
What’s really on the table?
Rare earths, tech, and who controls what in a world increasingly built on chips, batteries, and supply chains.
This trade chess game puts Aussie miners right in the middle.
Names like Lynas, Iluka, and Pilbara suddenly look more like strategic assets than just resource stocks.
Bitcoin’s mystery whale
Bitcoin cracked US$109,000, and some experts reckon a new all-time high could be only a week or two away.
According to CoinTelegraph, some mystery whale just opened a $54.5 million long bet on Bitcoin, with 20x leverage, right as prices were hovering around $106K.
The wallet, freshly minted and funded with $10 million in stablecoin, went all-in on the decentralised exchange Hyperliquid, scooping up over 500 BTC.
And with 20x leverage, one good candle could send things parabolic.
Rumour has it the trader might be James Wynn, the same bloke who copped a $99 million loss last month after a bad long trade blew up.
And finally…
On home soil, today’s headliner is the Westpac-Melbourne Institute consumer confidence index, a read on whether Aussies are feeling cashed-up or clutching their wallets.
If confidence takes a dive, it could ripple through retail, housing, and sentiment around future rate cuts.
Also worth noting: a handful of names go ex-dividend today, including Amcor, PepperMoney, and Tasmea.
