Good morning everyone, and welcome to 11 June, 2024 – an important day in the history of the world for a variety of wild and wonderful reasons.

It was on this day in 738 that a fella called Smoke Monkey ascended to the throne of the Maya city of Copán, after those ruffians down the road in rival city Quirigua captured and murdered his predecessor, who – I’m not making this up – was known as 18 Rabbit.

On this day in 1742, Benjamin Franklin invented the Franklin stove, a metal-lined firebox that became a produced less smoke and used less wood, designed to sit in the middle of the room so that a family could huddle around it for warmth while waiting for their dinner to be reduced to ashes.

It was a technological marvel of the era, but didn’t really take off in popularity because, super-genius Benjamin over here made the fundamental mistake of design over performance, and put the smoke outlet in the bottom of the stove, instead of in the top like a sentient human who understood that heat, and smoke, tend to go up, not down.

Still, his contribution to the grand tradition of kitchen gadgets that overpromise and under-deliver was not overlooked, and Benjamin Franklin managed turned up on the committee to draft a Declaration of Independence, which was formed on this day in 1776.

And it was on this day in 1891 that the Peurto Rican flag was adopted, after more than 20 years spent fruitlessly searching for its birth parents.

Luckily for you, there’s not a 20-year search on the cards before you get your hands on all the markety goodness before the ASX opens today.

For starters, Cam Drummond has been suitably industrious and brought you a breakdown of what’s been happening in the DSO (Direct Shipping Ore) iron space for small caps around the nation, and – as always – I’ve thrown together lots of fiddly little things below, so you don’t need to go ferreting all over the internet for your ASX info this morning.

Killing it casually on Friday was Jayride (ASX:JAY) after providing a trading update on its airport transfer marketplace business that showed that “contribution profit continued to increase on a lower passenger trips base”, which the company says is a validation of its recently updated business strategy.

LTR Pharma (ASX:LTP) had a firm grip on the winner’s list after the news from its recent primary and secondary clinical studies for its Spontan erectile dysfunction spray.

RemSense Technologies (ASX:REM) was an early leader, climbing nicely on news of a new contract with Chevron Australia to undertake virtualplant high-resolution photogrammetry scanning and image processing of Chevron’s Gorgon LNG Train 1 in northwestern Australia for a contract value of $534,195.33.

Dreadnought Resources (ASX:DRE) was up early on news that mineralogical work at its Gifford Creek Carbonatite – part of DRE’s 100% owned Mangaroon Critical Minerals project – has confirmed that the dominant niobium mineral is pyrochlore, which is a high niobium mineral (>50%) from which ~95% of global niobium is produced.

Finally, the gold developer MetalsTech (ASX:MTC) says a key condition has been satisfied for its ~$120m (~A$0.639 per share) acquisition by Trans Metals Fund, following the granting of underground mining activity permit No. 2440-3935/2023 for the Sturec Gold Mine.
