Lunchtime ASX small cap wrap: Who’s trying to escape a magpie today?

Spring’s here and it means (gradually) longer days, footy finals and, unfortunately for one snake, magpie swooping.
A video uploaded to YouTube last week shows a snake trying to escape the clutches of this determined maggie.

Unfortunately the markets today are also getting swooped, with the ASX Small Ords losing 0.55 per cent to 2,870 points, and the ASX 200 losing 0.47 per cent to 6,617 points.
ANZ-Roy Morgan consumer confidence fell 1 per cent last week mainly because consumer willingness to buy a major household item fell 7 per cent.
NAB’s monthly business confidence and conditions have declined in the last month. Confidence fell across all states and most industries, although mining bucked the trend – edging higher.
Economic commentator Michael Pascoe formally declared on Twitter minutes after the release that the Morrison government’s tax cuts had not worked as hoped to boost sentiment.
Going up
Winchester Energy (ASX:WEL) recovered significant oil from its Texas project and jumped 30 per cent.
Mesoblast (ASX:MSB) announced it had secured a partnership to develop an anti-back pain stem cell treatment and climbed 17 per cent.
