Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunch Thursday 3 January:

The ASX Small Ords was up 21 points or 0.9 per cent to 2,447.8 at 12.20pm AEST.

GOING UP

Hylea Metals (ASX:HCO) was one of the penny stocks on the move, jumping 100 per cent as it rose from the depths of one-tenth of a cent to two-tenths of a cent.

Hylea had no news out, though yesterday told investors its managing director David Berrie had resigned effective immediately, replaced by Simon Andrew.

Prana Biotech (ASX:PBT) had a great start to its Thursday, with shares rising a whopping 67 per cent to 5.5c.

It doesn’t have any news out this year so far, but as Stockhead reported yesterday, it is cashed up to the eyeballs after a Boston-based biotech investor tipped in up to $45 million.

Marketing and payments penny stock Rewardle Holdings (ASX:RXH) jumped 25 per cent in early Thursday trade after a former Fairfax executive joined its board.

“During his time with ACM, Rodney led a significant sales transformation program and was instrumental in the sales teams’ skill and digital capability development,” Rewardle told investors.

Its shares jumped to half a cent.

The uptick in Mesoblast’s (ASX:MSB) share price since the end of December has continued, thanks to a bullish corporate update.

Aimed at exciting investors, it did just that, taking the share price up 15 per cent from $1.04 to $1.20. It has continued to carry momentum into the new year, trading up 5pc at $1.32 in early Thursday trade.

GOING DOWN

Black Dragon Gold (ASX:BDG) lost 29 per cent in early Thursday trade, down to 7.5c.

The company had no major news out other than telling investors yesterday that Gabriel Chiappini had been appointed its Australian local agent, replacing Steven Wood, who resigned.
