Lunchtime ASX small cap wrap: Who’s spoiling the party (rightly so) today?
News
Nobody likes a party pooper. But this one might actually win some sympathy even if it’s just another chance to mock.
Kane Cornes doesn’t believe the Gold Coast Suns should have celebrated Mad Monday yesterday. You don’t have to follow sport to have an opinion on this.
Should a group of young males getting paid an average of $371,000 per year, at a club given over $20m a year in handouts by the AFL and that lost 17 games in a row be entitled to dress up like little kids – let alone celebrate the season at all? Whatever you think, too little too late for this year.
Can someone tell @GoldCoastSUNS that they won 3 games and lost 18 in a row. #DressUps pic.twitter.com/DD92RimS1r

Yet we admit, if you’re retiring, have had a half-decent career and know how to dress, like Dale Thomas, than you’re probably entitled to.
Our markets are following the US in rebounding following what seemed to be an overall positive G7 meeting. The ASX Small Ords gained 0.29 per cent to 2,790 points and the ASX 200 is up 0.37 per cent to 6,464 points.
ANZ-Roy Morgan consumer confidence gained 1.2 per cent last week, pushing the index above the long term average. ANZ’s head of Australian economics, David Plank, said the results were “pleasing” since they occurred in spite of the trade war and share market weakness.
Can the divergence between financial and economic sentiment be sustained? Plank said it could as long as the labour market stayed solid.
Strike Energy (ASX:STX) and Warrego Energy (ASX:WGO) both surged after announcing a big discovery from their gas well.
Smart Parking (ASX:SPZ) gained another 27 per cent today after yesterday’s news about potential acquisitions.
Echo Resources (ASX:EAR) gained 30 per cent after an acquisition offer of its own, from Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST).
