News
Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunchtime Friday June 15.
The ASX Small Ords index was at a near seven-year high of 2,886.8 at 1pm — up 33 points or 1.2 per cent.
GOING UP
Baraka Energy and Resources (ASX:BKP) was the most active small cap on the market this morning, tripling in price after a group of shareholders moved to turn over the board.
Baraka said shareholders representing 5.19 per cent of the register asked for a general meeting to remove three directors (Collin Vost, Justin Vost and Mr Ray Chang) and replace them with Jason Brewer, Christopher Zielinski and Patrick Glovac.
The shares moved from 0.1c to 0.3c with 130 million changing hands.
The meeting is due within two months.
Loss-making web developer Asia Pacific Digital (ASX:DIG) doubled to 12c by 1.15pm AEST Friday after a takeover offer from newly listed marketing agency Trimantium GrowthOps (ASX:TGO).
Asia Pacific Digital had been looking for a suitor since losing its major client Ford which it said in February had “negatively affected four consecutive reporting periods”.
Trimantium (ASX:TGO) has made a $20 million all-scrip takeover bid.
Asia Pacific endorsed the bid which offers one TGO share for every 8.9 APD shares based on TGO’s June 14 closing price of $1.23.
3D printer Robo 3D (ASX:RBO) jumped 68 per cent today after buying the world’s biggest library of 3D printable kits designed for schools.
Robo 3D will pay the owners of Atlanta-based MyStemKits $US2 million ($2.6 million) including $US1.2 million in cash plus shares issued under a 12-month escrow.
The shares were up 68 per cent this morning to an intraday high of 3.7c — though still well down on their one-year high of 7.2c. The shares cooled to 2.8c by 1.15pm AEST.
Gold explorer De Grey Mining (ASX:DEG) climbed 11 per cent to an intraday high of 20c on Friday after finding more gold mineralisation at shallow depths in the Pilbara.
Recent drilling at the Mallina prospect has returned several shallow gold hits – most of which are at less than 60m deep.
Graphite play Battery Minerals (ASX:BAT) was heavily traded this morning as it bounced back slightly after a 35 per cent drop earlier this week when investor Resource Capital Funds pulled out of a deal saying the graphite market “no longer meets its investment criteria”.
It’s been a rough time for ASX graphite stocks of late — with most sliding further this week.
Battery Minerals shares were up 10 per cent to an intraday high of 3.4c with more than 12 million shares changing hands by 1.20pm AEST.
Newly listed broadband disruptor 5G Networks (ASX:5GN) moved ahead 9 per cent today after telling investors it’s ahead of sales targets.
5G connects medium-sized businesses to high speed internet on fibre networks (and has nothing to do with 5G mobile networks).
5G shares have reached as high as 93c compared to their 25c issue price. Today they were up 9 per cent at an intraday high of 50c.

GOING DOWN
Hawkstone Mining (ASX:HWK) fell 27 per cent on Friday morning after telling investors it’s not going ahead with the acquisition of USA Lithium.
The company — which was formerly South African-focused coal miner ZYL — told investors a deal could not be reached between the two parties.
The acquisition would have added two lithium projects – the Big Sandy lithium clay project in Arizona and the Lordsburg lithium brine project in New Mexico – to its portfolio.
As part of the deal, well known mining personality Klaus Eckhof was set to join the board.
The shares had slipped to an intra-day low of 1.6c by 1.20pm AEST Friday.
