How could the Maldives be risky? Is Instagram facing closure – forcing influencers to get a real job? Are we just jealous of them? Actually, these particular Maldives are in Russia at a coal plant’s ash dump site.

How does this happen? The ash and slag from burnt brown coal is mixed with calcium salts. It isn’t fatal or radioactive but has high levels of acid and can cause skin reactions.
In many places that are tourist hotspots like Santorini and Venice, locals get annoyed. But the locals actually like it. One said, “Our city is grey and this is one of the available ‘beautiful’ places.”

Our markets look set to finish the week on a downward note. The ASX Small Ords is down 0.55 per cent to 2,907 points. Meanwhile the ASX 200 is down 0.21 per cent to 6,702 points.
There’d been talk we could get our tax refunds as early as today but MyGov has crashed so that might not be happening now. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has made it clear he wants to increase infrastructure spending, but not at the expense of delivering a budget surplus.
Going up
Better late than never? Norwood Systems (ASX:NOR) is up 25 per cent after once again providing a definitive time line as to when it expects to seal a deal with Oracle – this quarter.
Connected IO (ASX:CIO) is up 17 per cent after announcing it had secured a $500,000 line of credit facility.

Its been two bad Fridays in a row for Metgasco (ASX:MEL). Last Friday it fell after announcing its well was a write-off and today its lost another 16 per cent as storm season begins in the Gulf of Mexico.
