Here are the key ASX small cap winners at lunch Monday February 25:
The ASX Small Ords was up 18.2 points or 0.7 per cent to 2,769.5 at 12pm AEST, another new high — the highest point since early October.
Fintech Splitit (ASX:SPT) rose 15 per cent to an intraday high of 86c this morning on news it had appointed the former managing director of PayPal Australia and Japan to head up its Asia Pacific strategy.
“Whether it is Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, China or any other country in the region, we can offer merchants and shoppers something no one else can,” Andrew Pipolo said of his appointment.
CommsChoice (ASX:CCG) shares rose 54 per cent this morning to 10c, despite the fact it had no news out. That’s a four-month high. No word on stock gossip forum HotCopper, either, for the movement.
If you know why, please let us know.
Neurotech International (ASX:NTI) announced that its renounceable pro-rata rights issue raised $783,689, sending shares in the company up 40 per cent to 4.2c.
There was a shortfall of 2.6 million shares, which the company plans to place within the next three months.
Hot Chili (ASX:HCH) has cemented a deal that gives it the option to buy a private copper and gold discovery right next to two of its other copper projects.
Not a new deal — it announced in early Feb, this is just formal agreement post due diligence — but shares still kept climbing higher this morning, advancing 19 per cent to 3.2c not long after market open.
The copper miner’s shares shot up 93 per cent to close last week out at 2.7c, which nabbed it a grilling from the ASX over the spike.
