For those partial to the online dating game, Tinder is introducing a new feature: the panic button.
From next week, users in the US will be able to use the new function, which automatically alerts authorities if things start to get creepy.
Access will be granted through a separate app — Noonlight — that Tinder recently made an investment in.
And speaking of panic, we’d be remiss if we didn’t send you into the weekend with an update on China’s coronavirus outbreak.
Chinese health authorities say the number of reported cases has now reached 830, with 25 deaths. Along with the epicentre city of Wuhan, two other large cities — Huanggang and Ezhou — have now been placed into lockdown.
The potential spread of the virus has now reached Sydney, with reports that a person has been placed into quarantine at an unknown hospital for further testing.
On that bright note we turn to markets, and the ASX200 shrugged off any concerns about a global health threat as it climbed to 7,110 points into midday trade, a gain of 0.31 per cent. The Small Ords index was 0.15 per cent higher at 3,059.70 points.
