Lunchtime ASX small cap wrap: Who’s got their ducks in a row (literally) today?
News
News
News just in – 60,000 rubber ducks were dumped in the Chicago River overnight.
But all is well, because it was for the Rubber Ducky Derby. Now an annual event, each rubber duck is adopted for US$5 online and after being dumped into the river by a truck they get hosed to the finish line.
All proceeds go to help the Special Olympics but one lucky winner walks home with a 2019 Chevy Equinox.
It’s a great annual event, but not a world record. Back in 2008, 250,000 rubber ducks raced down the River Thames. But you could argue it didn’t count because the ducks weren’t yellow. They were blue.
Markets aren’t exactly racing for the finish line this week, but today has been a good day. The ASX Small Ords gained 0.57 per cent to 2,873 while the ASX 200 gained 0.10 per cent to 6,575.
The latter has had its worst week since Christmas but the former has only had its worst week since early June and had an eight-week winning streak since. Keep your eyes out next week for unemployment figures and the wage price index.
Clancy Exploration (ASX: CLYDA) shares went ballistic this morning after an update on a proposed acquisition of a rare earths project. In a nutshell, the path is clearer than it could have otherwise been.
This is the fourth biggest one-day gain this year behind Orthocell (ASX: OCC) on May 8, Chongherr Investments (ASX: CDH) on July 26 and Hylea Metals (ASX: HCO) on June 24 which all gained over 300 per cent.
Konekt (ASX: KKT) jumped 27 per cent after announcing an acquisition.

Big Ben? Buckingham Palace? Tower of London? Pfft. The one place to visit in London is Abbey Road – where 50 years ago this week ‘that photo’ was taken.
