Lunchtime ASX Small Cap Wrap: Who’s got a glimmer of hope to end the week today?

The ASX is on track for another strong session, as markets continue to take a more optimistic view of the medium-term outlook.
That’s despite ongoing hits to real economies across the globe, with Australia set to remain in lockdown for at least the next four weeks.
Overnight, New York Federal Reserve president John Williams said the “full scale of the economic consequences” from the COVID-19 pandemic were “still unknown”.
But for now, markets appear to be optimistic that unprecedented support measures from governments and central banks will help major economies hold the line until the health crisis is contained.
After some historic falls in March, the ASX is yet to post a daily decline of more than 2 per cent in April.
By 12pm EST on Friday, the ASX200 was up 2.45 per cent at 5,548.90 points, accompanied by a 2.74 per cent rally for the Small Ords Index which climbed to 2,371.20 points.

If you want to know why a stock has posted triple-digit percentage gains in morning trade these days, there’s a good chance it’s released some promising news tied to a treatment for COVID-19.
That was the case this morning, as online vendor Harris Technology (ASX:HT8) announced a “pro-hygiene range” of facemasks, hand sanitiser gels and alcohol wipes.
After signing a distribution deal with a China-based manufacturer, Harris Technology said it sold 30,000 face masks in March, while another shipment of 200,000 face masks (approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration) has just arrived.
Nick Sundich has the wrap of all this morning’s COVID-19 related winners here.
A good resources strike also helps, and minnow explorer New World Resources (ASX:NWC) was the best performer among mining stocks this morning, after its six-hole drill program revealed “massive‐sulphides intersected” at the company’s Antler copper project in Arizona.
