Lunchtime ASX small cap wrap: Who’s got a Bathurst hangover today?

Congratulations to Kiwi Scott McLaughlin and Frenchman Alexandre Prémat, who took out Sunday’s Bathurst 1000.

In yet another dramatic edition of The Great Race, it all came down to a one-lap sprint after more than six hours of racing.

Also racing today are local markets, with the ASX 200 up 0.89 per cent and the ASX small ords up 0.58 per cent.

Going up

Shareholders in Magmatic Resources (ASX:MAG) were very fond of a company update this morning. Magmatic said it is ending a joint venture with Japan Oils and Gas Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) on its Parkes Project.

Its managing director David Richardson pointed to Alkane Resources’ (ASX:ALK) recent discovery as proof of the “great potential” of the region.

Shares rose 73 per cent to 13c.

Elsewhere, both Zoono (ASX:ZNO) and Admedus (ASX:AHZ) had ~40 per cent share price rises, Zoono on the back of a promising quarterly report and Admedus on a $36 million sale of two of its products. Read more about it here.

Going down

No major fallers on news today, though Latitude Consolidated (ASX:LCD) shed 21 per cent to 1.1c after receiving notice from the Ministry of Mines & Mining Development in Zimbabwe that it intends to cancel the certificates of registration issued for the claims granted to its  Mbeta Project. Latitude is appealing.
