Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunch Friday Sep 14:
The ASX Small Ords was up 15.2 points or 0.54 per cent to 2,829.5 at 12.30pm AEST.
GOING UP
Perpetual low-value fluctuator Niuminco (ASX:NIU) is up 100 per cent this morning to an intraday high of 0.2c after releasing its third all-caps announcement this month.
Niuminco told investors this morning that it had found “bonanza” grades of gold from its Edie Creek site, totalling 83.3g/t gold from a newly discovered vein.
“Bonanza” is a term used by miners to describe gold well above the 5g/t level considered high-grade. Yesterday, the gold news was all about the Pilbara.
Europa Metals (ASX:EUZ) experienced a similar morning rush, also up 100 per cent to an intraday high of 0.2c, though a whopping 53 million shares traded hands, far more than Niuminco.
Europa Metals told investors yesterday that they had begun the process to develop a mine at its wholly-owned Toral lead-zinc-silver project in northern Spain.
The company is in the first year of its three-year investigation permit.
Shares in Freedom Insurance Group (ASX:FIG) rose 32 per cent this morning to an intraday high of 14.5c.
It was a bit of welcome relief for the company who were criticised in the financial services royal commission for selling accident and funeral insurance to an intellectually disabled man.
The company’s shares slid 20pc that day.
Yesterday, Freedom told investors that it had ceased marketing the accident and funeral insurance.
Software company Covata (ASX:CVT) is up 25 per cent to an intraday high of 2.5c this morning after it provided shareholders with a company update.
Covata said it had secured a purchase order to provide a Europe-based Global 500 corporation with their Eclipse for SharePoint data protection product.

Alligator Energy (ASX:AGE) had a poor morning, sliding 44 per cent to an intraday low of 0.5c, also a year-long low, after telling investors today it had not discovered anomalous scintillometer indications of uranium “as yet”.
The company did say however that it had found further high-grade nickel, cobalt, copper and gold at its Piedmont project.
