The ASX Small Ords was up 18 points or 0.6 per cent to 2,831.9 at 12.40pm AEST.
GOING UP
Australia’s newest pot stock Althea (ASX:AGH) enjoyed a stellar debut on the ASX today, tripling its 20c issue price.
The stock listed at 60c at 11am AEST today with $4.5 million worth of shares changing hands by 12.40pm AEST. The stock cooled slightly to 57.5c by 1pm.
Althea raised $19.6 million in what was a genuinely over-subscribed initial public offering.
The timing could not have been better with strong momentum around cannabis stocks in the US — and will likely give the local cannabis sector a boost.
Decimal Software (ASX:DSX) rose 75 per cent to 1.4c this morning after it released an announcement yesterday evening that it would be bought out by Sargon Capital.
Sargon will acquire all of Decimal’s issued shares for 1.41c, hence the big rise.
Decimal chairman Mark Potts said the board unanimously recommended shareholders vote in favour of the scheme.
Though it has no news out today, shares in Rawson Oil & Gas (ASX:RAW) rocketed 31 per cent to an intraday high of 3.4c.
There has been plenty of interest in Rawson of late however as it prepares for a takeover from Lakes Oil (ASX:LKO).
Lakes will find out next week if it has beaten Victoria’s ban on gas exploration.
Avita Medical (ASX:AVH) shares rose rose 28 per cent to an intraday high of 11.5c, the stock’s highest point in nearly two years, after it received FDA approval to sell its spray-on skin to burns victims.
Avita is working to commercialise a technology called RECELL, which helps skin growth after burns or chronic wounds and reduces the amount of skin harvested during surgery.
$169 million worth of shares traded hands in Global Traffic Network (ASX:GTN) after it announced that GTCR Gridlock sold all of its 89 million shares in the company.
It was the most active stock this morning, and it sent the share price up 2pc to $1.95, up from yesterday’s close of $1.91.

GOING DOWN
Meteoric Resources (ASX:MEI) fell 40 per cent to an intraday low of 1.5c after maiden drill results at its Mulligan project in Canada indicated “the system lacks the geological scale and metal grades to host sufficient polymetallic mineralisation to support modern day mining techniques”.
