Lunchtime ASX small cap wrap: Who’s finding out something isn’t really a monster today?

Creatures that lurk beneath the waters remain a mystery, from the plankton at Challenger Deep to the ‘monster’ in Loch Ness.
Well today scientists have found that the so-called ‘Nessie’ doesn’t exist – at least not as we know it. Since an apparent sighting in 1933 it has been thought of as a monster fish or even a dragon.
But scientists reckon it was either an abnormally large eel or a swarm of them.
If you were planning a trip to Scotland, don’t despair – there’s still things to see. Even the Loch Ness itself.

Our markets are having a good Friday. The ASX Small Ords has gained 0.44 per cent to 2,889 points. It’s up 1.83 per cent this week.
Meanwhile, the ASX 200 gained 0.54 per cent to 6,649 points, but is only 0.8 per cent higher than last Friday.
The Australian Industry Group Performance of Construction Index rose by 5.5 points to 44.6. Overall the industry is still in a state of decline but the rate of decline has slowed.
Going up
Aldoro Resources (ASX:ARN) is up 68 per cent today after announcing it is acquiring a private gold and nickel miner and its projects.
The latest production results out of Whitebark Energy (ASX:WBE) has sent it up 22 per cent

Horizon Minerals (ASX:HRZ) lost 14 per cent after telling shareholders it would match a much higher competing bid for Focus Minerals’ (ASX:FML) Coolgardie gold project.
Pilot Energy (ASX:PGY) shares have gone ballistic in the last week for no apparent reason other than being near Warrego Energy (ASX:WGO) and Strike Energy (ASX:STX). But today it lost ground, falling 22 per cent.
