In what will be a blow to the French-founded European Football Football Association (UEFA), it’s going to be an all-English Champion’s League Final, after a nail-biter semi between Tottenham Hotspurs and Dutch team Ajax went to the Spurs, 3-2.

The last time this happened was in 2008.

The origins of the Champions League lie with a French newspaper called L’Equipe. The idea had been percolating for some time, but it was a series of international wins by the Wolverhampton Wanderers and their claim to be ‘Champions of the World’ that irritated the French into setting up the tournament in 1956.

The Stockhead office contains no Tottenham fanatics but does include a single one-eyed Chelsea supporter. It’s a lonely life, apparently.

GOING UP

Dreamscape Networks (ASX:DN8) led the risers today after telling the market it has basically smashed it in 2019, lifting revenue by 16-18 per cent and profit by a massive 59 per cent.

The miner named after a song, Liontown Resources (ASX:LTR), keeps finding thick zones of high grade lithium outside the current resource at its Kathleen Valley lithium-tantalum project in WA.

The latest round of drilling results, which includes 18m at 1.6 per cent Li2O from 189m, could substantially increase the current mineral resource estimate, the company says.

And Envirosuite (ASX:EVS) is benefiting from the mine tailing dam disasters in Latin America. BHP-, Glencore- and Anglo-American-owned Cerrejon is now its biggest customer, spending $500,000 a year for continuous remote monitoring of groundwater pressure alongside other services.

GOING DOWN

There wasn’t much news to speak of at the bottom end of the decliners, so it was Digital Wine Ventures (ASX:DW8), formerly known as Dawine, leading the news.

It’s been struggling to get its takeover of new CEO Dean Taylor’s company Wine Depot past a shareholder, but achieved that last week.

The stock has been rising over the last month however, and today it came off a peak hit yesterday. The news was a response to an ASX price query asking what was behind the dramatic upwards moves.
