Lunchtime ASX small cap wrap: Which companies are spicing up the market today?

Hot sauces are exactly that, hot and full of spicy goodness.

But it appears that some bottles of the popular Sriracha brand could explode upon opening, showering hot sauce all over – and potentially into sensitive spots like eyes.

Local markets have also been a let down, the same way hot sauce aficionados have been disappointed, with the ASX200 falling 0.52 per cent to 6,785.9 points while the Small Ords slipped 0.3 per cent to 2,937.4 points.

GOING UP

Despite the overall market conditions, there were some companies that continued to put on a good show.

Twenty Seven Co (ASX:TSC) rose 40 per cent on no news. Shares in the company gained last week after it reported a high-grade shallow gold discovery in Western Australia just before Christmas.

Meanwhile, Xped Limited (ASX:XPE) was up 33.3 per cent. While there was no news today, the company reported last Friday afternoon that it was successful in appealing a Department of Industry, Innovation and Science finding that certain activities the company undertook were ineligible for a Research and Development tax rebate.

GOING DOWN

Resource & Energy Group (ASX:REZ) was down 33.3 per cent on no news.

Reports that its first core hole in Nevada failed to intersect any significant gold or silver sent shares in Oakdale Resources (ASX:OAR) down 25 per cent.
