Last Orders: Large caps flat, while small caps finish in the red

The ASX had a mixed day with large and small caps diverging significantly.

The ASX 200 finished up 0.01 per cent at 6,886 points. Meanwhile, the ASX Small Ords lost 0.92 per cent, dropping to 3,184 points and the ASX Emerging Companies Index lost 1.33 per cent, falling to 2,095 points.

Today’s top sectors were healthcare and financials with the latter being caused by financial results of the big banks trickling in as the deadline to lodge half yearly reports looms.

The top stock was Aquis Entertainment (ASX:AQS), which operates Canberra’s casino. It had no news leading to trading being paused at 2.10pm.

Today saw the IPO of Nexion (ASX:NNG), which dropped at the start of trade but finished its inaugural trading day 25 per cent up.

Adventure tourism operator Experience Co (ASX:EXP) announced a statutory loss after tax of $0.2 million. However it noted the COVID-19 vaccine was a positive for the industry and hoped for more stability of domestic borders as 2021 progressed.

R&D company Silex Systems (ASX:SLX) announced that testing results had shown its high frequency filter product showed significant performance improvement compared to incumbent technologies.

Health tech company MyFiziq (ASX:MYQ) signed a partnership with Chinese company Tinjoy Biotech to allow the latter access and distribution rights to Myfiziq’s CompleteScan platform.

Little Green Pharma (ASX:LGP) has joined a Sydney University medicinal cannabis study – the QUEST Initiative. It aims to recruit at least 2,100 patients by June 2021.

Infinity Lithium (ASX:INF) raised $15 million for its San Jose Lithium project in Spain. The company reported the deal was heavily over subscribed and said it showed the investment community understood the need for lithium-ion and consequently long-life lithium projects.
