The ASX200 cruised into the close with a gain of 0.36% on Friday, as markets remained relatively sanguine ahead of US employment figures later tonight.

Gains at the big end of town were led by the IT sector which rose more than 2%.

More steady gains in financials and energy stocks offset another round of falls in the big resources companies, as the ASX200 Materials index finished the week almost 2% lower.
