On Friday, the ASX 200 finished 0.17% higher, after regaining lunchtime losses.

Energy and Utilities were the main drag on the benchmark index, which closed the week 1% higher.

Buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) stock Afterpay (ASX:APT) continued its downward slide, falling by almost 1.5% today on fears that competition from Apple and Paypal may erode market share.

Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) fell by 0.6% after releasing its quarterly results that show its iron ore exports fell 12% below last year’s level, due to surging costs and disruptions such as heavy rainfall.

Wesfarmers (ASX:WES) rose by almost a percent after announcing that Covalent Lithium, its JV with Sociedad Quimica of Chile, has received all critical approvals, and that construction and project development have now commenced.

Praemium (ASX:PPS), rose again by 7% today, and is up 23% for the week since announcing a record quarter which saw its funds under management rising to $41.7 billion. The company is a global player that provides technology platforms for managed accounts, investment administration and financial planning.

Contact Energy (ASX:CEN) and NextDC (ASX:NXT) rose on no specific news.
