The ASX had a modest start but tumbled in the last two hours to finish over 2 per cent down. 338 stocks gained, 1021 declined and 756 were unchanged.

WINNERS:

Metals Australia (ASX:MLS) surged thanks to a maiden JORC resource for its Canadian graphite project.

Digital marketing play engage:BDR (ASX:EN1) unveiled a new commercial partnership.

LOSERS:
