Among stocks with announcements, the morning leaders failed to hold their gains, which left E2 Metals (ASX:E2M) in top spot with an intraday rise of 25 per cent.

It was an eventful day for the mining explorer, which in the morning advised that drilling at its Emilia prospect in Argentina had revealed “a new zone of shallow high-grade silver mineralisation”.

That was followed up by a Section 249D notice in the afternoon, issued by shareholders Penstock Group Pty Ltd and Olivers Hill Pty Ltd, regarding “the intention to move a resolution for the removal of Mr Todd Williams as a director” of the company.
