Junior gold explorer Octanex (ASX:OXX) led out of the blocks and held its gains, after some encouraging results from early exploration at its ‘Sefton’ gold project in WA.

A recent ‘lag sampling’ program identified multiple gold anomalies, and OXX reckons a big hit could be around the corner. That was enough to send the stock 48pc higher to 7.7c.

Also rising strongly was Queensland Pacific Minerals (ASX:QPM) following the appointment of veteran mining engineer Jim Simpson to its board, along with Resource Mining Corporation (ASX: RMI) which jumped after announcing it’s commenced field exploration activities at its Kabulwanyele nickel project in Tanzania.
