Gains were led by TZ Ltd (ASX:TZL), the manufacturer of TZ SMArt electronic locking devices.

Investor will be on the lookout for news flow after shares in the company more than doubled, before going into a trading halt at 2pm EST pending a further announcement.

Also on the winner’s list following a market-moving announcement was biotech stock Alterity Therapeutics (ASX:ATH).

The company presented expanded animal data at a US conference which supports “the commercialisation of its lead compound ATH434 in clinical development for the treatment of Parkinsonian disorders”, ATH said.
