The ASX 200 finished lower for the second consecutive day, falling lower by 0.94% today as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Australia and across the globe.

Health Minister Greg Hunt however said that more than 10 million Australians have had their first COVID-19 jab, which is a significant milestone.

Banks, miners, and energy plays were the main drags on the bourse, falling by over 1% each while healthcare over-performed and rose by 0.5%.

But it was the Emerging ASX Emerging Companies Index (ASX:XEC) that took the full brunt of the bearish sentiment, falling by 2.15%.

The small caps index experienced its worst day since June 21 this year, when it fell by 2.56%.

Property services company, Millenium Services (ASX:MIL), rose 11% after announcing solid full year results, with an underlying gross profit of $40.8 million, up 34% from FY20.

Explorer Petratherm (ASX:PTR) rose 7% after saying that shallow infill drilling over the large ‘DG1’ gold anomaly at Comet in SA has been successfully completed, with results expected in about three weeks’ time.

Kip McGrath Education (ASX:KME) climbed 2% after saying it would buy back the area developer territory for Scotland from Gerald Casserly for $470k. This territory covers 32 centres and under the agreement will now be fully serviced by the UK Head Office in Gloucester from October 2021

Starpharma (ASX:SPL) rose by 3% after announcing results from its VIRALEZE clinical safety study, demonstrating the product was safe and well tolerated in accordance with the primary endpoint. SPL says that these data support the suitability of VIRALEZE antiviral nasal spray for use in everyday situations as a preventative product.

Nuheara (ASX:NUH) announced a clinical trial to test the safety and effectiveness of its latest range of hearing aid products. It hired National Acoustic Laboratories, the research division of Hearing Australia, to assist it with the trial.

Ausmon Resources (ASX:AOA) announced the application it lodged with the South Australian government for an exploration license was accepted. The government has begun an assessment process to consider an offer for tenements which lie near the Koppamurra project owned by Australian Rare Earths (ASX:AR3).

West African Resources (ASX:WAF) reported the latest gold interceptions at its M1 South deposit at the Sanbrado gold project in Burkina Faso. The intercepts, which lie outside the current mine plan, include 2m at 82.7g/t and 10.5m at 6.6g/t.

Less than 2 weeks since listing, Gold 50 (ASX:G50) announced it had tripled the size of its Golconda project in the USA from 8.8 square kilometres to 24km. The company says the latest expansion captures more of the underlying district-scale system.

Future First Technologies (ASX:FFT) told shareholders its contract with Transport for New South Wales was expanded, locking in $700,000 in revenue for FY22. The company’s SaaS Asset management software provides clients with an integrated view of transport infrastructure and enabling workforce management.

Tech investor Baliador (ASX:BTI) announced its annual results for FY21, reporting cash realisations of $31 million, up 161% from the year before, and net tangible assets reaching $1.53 per share, up 23%.It told shareholders it expects FY22 to be significant for new investments and further cash realisation.
