A “hackathon” is not something you’d normally expect the Australia and New Zealand’s defence forces to host but this weekend that’s just what they’ll be doing.

The armies are hosting ANZDF Hack, a 48-hour online event starting at 7pm Friday night Sydney time.

The event will identify solutions to supply chain issues underpinning defence’s ability to mobilise quickly.

“The strength of the Australia-New Zealand relationship is more important than ever, and now is the optimum time to build networks and find self-reliant capability solutions with our close partner and friend across the Tasman,” Defence Minister Senator Linda Reynolds said.

She promised that winning and shortlisted concepts would be rewarded with progress through innovation programs, mentoring, real data, funding streams or ongoing support.

Our markets have declined for the second day in a row. The ASX 200 is down 1.2 per cent to 5,338 points while the ASX Small Ords dropped 1.8 per cent to 2,393 points as at 11:45am EST.

MSL Solutions (ASX:MPW) rose over 50 per cent this morning after saying it had escaped being significantly hit by COVID-19. Despite its client base, sport and hospitality venues, being one of the worst hit sectors, MSL’s subscription business model has spared it.
