ASX Small Cap Lunch Wrap: Who’s turning back the clock today?

News
Markets are off to a buoyant start this week, with the ASX Small Ordinaries Index climbing by around one per cent to midday trade.
US stock futures are also pointing slightly higher with no major swings in currencies or commodities.
Key data this week is likely to be led by US inflation figures on Wednesday night, when US Fed Chair Jerome Powell will also make a (separate) speech.
Since the start of February two US investor billionaires — Paul Singer and Stan Druckenmiller — have both gone on the record with the view that inflation may rise quicker than markets currently expect as the global economy recovers.
With Asia-Pacific markets on track for a relatively tranquil Monday, focus in some corners has turned to Super Bowl LV, where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are taking on the Kansas City Chiefs.
The game pits the Chief’s star (young) quarterback Patrick Mahomes against Tom Brady, who is now (checks Wiki) 43 years old.
Heading into halftime, Brady was turning the clock back with three touchdown passes to give the Bucs a 21-6 lead.
But yeah, American football…

ASX small caps are closing in on new 12-year highs. And if there’s been one area of the market with money-making opportunities aplenty in recent months, it’s been resources.
That trend proved itself yet again this morning as eight companies joined the midday winner’s list following market-moving announcements — all of them in the resources sector.
Minnow gold explorer Amani Gold (ASX:ANL) ticked higher in percentage terms, after announcing a $3m capital raise to fund drilling, resource estimates and feasibility studies at its Giro gold project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Canterbury Resources (ASX:CBY) also jumped after it was granted a licence from the Mineral Resources Authority of Papua New Guinea to begin the development phase of existing copper-gold deposits at Idzan Creek and Wamum Creek.
For the full resources wrap, Reuben Adams has all you need here. Probably more.
Elsewhere, online real estate rental marketplace rent.com.au (ASX:RNT) continued its torrid rally following a $2m capital injection from high-profile investor Bevan Slattery last week.
