To Markets:

US share markets eased on Wednesday, despite investors responding to positive testimony by the US Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to the Senate Banking Committee.

Global oil prices are up ~6 per cent after a container ship ran aground in the Suez Canal, potentially causing disruption to global oil supplies.

And the ASX has made early gains, with the benchmark ASX 200 Index up 0.35% by 12pm eastern time.
